Ben Potter - Head Falconer

Ben Potter
"At the age of 14 my obsession with birds became my job and life. I began to volunteer at a small Yorkshire falconry centre and later was employed full time. Over the past 14 years I have trained and flown; Hawks, Eagles, Vultures, Kites, Buzzards, Falcons, as well as some more unusual birds such as Ravens, Kookaburras, Pelicans, Serimas and even Ospreys.

The off site display work I did took off in a big way, I even flew a Golden Eagle over York city centre. Two years ago at the age of 26 I decided to leave where I was and go out alone.

I have a large team of big birds which are not usually seen at off site demonstrations. They are all free flown every day regardless of the weather conditions, and are at a great standard".

Benji - Falconer

Benji
"I started at the age of 11 volunteering at a falconry centre where Ben Potter was the head falconer. When I was at school - I always had an interest in birds of prey, and knew I wanted to work with them. At the Centre, I had the opportunity to learn how to handle and fly these amazing birds.

Now at the age of 18 - I am working full time for Birds of Prey Displays, and have a superb team of birds which I travel throughout the UK with, performing flying displays".
Joe - Assistant Falconer

"I have been working with birds for around 6 years now. I began by going on a young falconers course run by Ben. When I was 11, I joined as a volunteer for Ben, getting involved with caring for the birds and flying them.

I am now 17 and work part time for Ben, traveling around the country helping with the running of the eagle and vulture team and provide backup assistance. I also help with the training process, and the feeding and maintenance of the birds".
